Rarely do I find writing about our economic system that warrants not just Wall of Fame status, but also a parade. I cannot heap enough praise on today’s honoree:
American actor Leonardo DiCaprio lands on the Wall of Shame today for one statement he made in his new film, Before the Flood. I do this very reluctantly, because at the same time I want to applaud the man for investing so much time and energy into producing this movie.
I have a real problem with population growth maintaining its undeserved place on the mantle of trophies for city success. Cities don’t grow their population in an alternative universe. They grow in the same overpopulated world of 7.4 billion currently killing our planet.
Today I applaud an eminently logical, but also heartfelt, response to mindless criticism of the suggestion that conceiving fewer children is a smart, clean, humane way to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
